What this test measures
This test measures how quickly you can move a cursor to an unpredictable point and click it accurately. Thirty targets appear one at a time at random positions, and each one is slightly smaller than the last, so the task gets progressively harder as your hand gets warmer. The score is your average time per target, with accuracy reported separately as the percentage of your clicks that actually landed on a target.
The underlying relationship is Fitts's law: the time to hit a target scales with how far away it is and how small it is. Because both distance and size vary across a run, a single attempt has real noise in it. Two or three runs give a much more stable picture of where you actually sit than one does.

How to improve your score
- Find a sensitivity you can flick and micro-adjust with. Too high and you overshoot every small target. Too low and you run out of mousepad. Most players land between 800 and 1600 DPI with a moderate in-app multiplier.
- Aim with your arm for distance and your wrist for precision. Large repositioning movements come from the elbow and shoulder. The final correction should be a small wrist adjustment. Doing everything with the wrist costs you on long flicks.
- Do not click before the cursor has settled. A click issued mid-movement is the single biggest source of misses. Stopping fractionally earlier usually produces a better average than clicking fractionally sooner.
- Use a large, consistent mousepad surface. Running out of space mid-flick forces a lift and reposition, which adds hundreds of milliseconds to a single target and wrecks the average.
- Warm up with two full runs before recording one. Cursor control improves measurably in the first minute of use. The third run is far more representative than the first.

What is a good time per target on an aim trainer?
Around 650 milliseconds is average. Under 500 milliseconds is good, and under 420 is genuinely fast. Competitive FPS players commonly sit between 400 and 550 on tests of this type.
Does this actually improve my aim in games?
Partly. It trains target acquisition and click timing, which transfer reasonably well. It does not train tracking, recoil control, or the game-specific movement that surrounds real aiming, so treat it as a warm-up and a benchmark rather than a full training regime.
Why does accuracy matter as much as speed?
Because a fast average with 70% accuracy means you are spraying clicks and getting lucky. Speed with high accuracy is a real skill; speed alone is not, and in an actual game the missed clicks have consequences.
Should I use a mouse or a trackpad?
A mouse, by a wide margin. Trackpad users typically score 200 to 400 milliseconds slower per target simply because of the input method, which makes cross-comparison meaningless.
Why do the targets get smaller?
So the test measures precision as well as raw speed. A run of identically sized targets rewards fast, sloppy movement. Shrinking targets force you to keep control as you speed up.
